Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge

If you have looked at many of my photos you have more than likely noticed that when ever I get a chance I head to the woods. Almost any woods will do but today I picked the Ottawa Wildlife Refuge that is located about 20 miles west of Toledo, Ohio. I had read that there were some marsh habitats, birds, etc.

I had no idea that by the end of my walk I would be looking at white egrets as if they were city pigeons. It is true that with enough exposure to any particular stimuli humans can get use to almost anything.

The highlight of my visit had to be having a Bald Eagle swoop out of a tree about 50 yards in front of me and proceed to get harassed by red-winged black birds. There are not a lot of Eagles hanging out in Ohio these days so it was a treat to see one of these really large birds flying in the open.
